Oh My ;-) Oman

I'm opening this thread so that if any fellow kababayans happens to be a member also of the PEX People Club. Pls. respond immediately.
Anyway, I would like to express my thoughts to this beautiful country of Oman.
People are very friendly not like in other GCC countries mostly Nationals speak good English.
I'm working in a Supermarket as a cashier in a Bakeshop and i really like my position so far mainly because after closing hours i get unsold breads.

yup, i agree that Oman is a beautiful country and people are friendly - Omanis and Indians and Pakistanis - but Filipinos working there? questionable !

Hi. I'm working in Muscat as teacher at the Higher College Of Technology. Although I've been here for only two months, Ie have found the place to be peaceful place compared to other gulf countries. The prices of goods are pretty much afforddable. But the transportation is not. Taxis here charge on a per contract basis because there's no meter.

But in hindsight, I think it's a great place.

Opo na ban dati ang pinoy dati pero nalift na po yun. At ang rison po ng ban dun sa 9/11. Meron pong mga omani sa pinas na nag visit lang tapos pinagkamalang terorista ng mga pulis. Ayun nagalit ang Sultan dito at pinagbawal ang pinoy. KAya lang nalift ang ban kasi nagsorry si Gloria

What are you teaching? A lot of Filipino teachers came to Oman recently. Which other Gulf countries have you been to?

I moved in here last Dec. 2006 through my dad's family visa..My dad already left last year for another job, and as for me, i begged to stay here so i could experience how it's like to be really independent in a foreign country. so far, i'm doing good

yup! maganda nga talaga oman. its got greens and the browns (duh? lol). nice ang scenery. peaceful and ok ang mga locals. i've been here for more than a year pa lang and ok naman sya (so far). although it doesn't have the long line of bars and clubs, like dubai, it does have its fair share or nightlife dinkahit papano. kaya makakaipon ka naman hehehe.

it's nice in here, less commercialized nga lang as compared to dubai so it could get a little boring here sometimes..
